Dare we say it… Christmas is now officially on the horizon and with it comes the inevitable influx of deliveries, community events and many, many visitors wanting access.

Feeling stressed already?

Read on for our Top 3 Tips on how to make the festive season a little easier on you and your residents…

  1. Manage your residents’ expectations

With the additional footfall experienced in the run-up to and over the Christmas season, it will help if you communicate clearly with your residents about the protocol for booking in guests, providing access and arranging large or heavy deliveries.

If you have a preferred system, shout about it from the rooftops- if everyone is on the same page it will make it all a bit easier as things get busy and seemingly insignificant things apparently become rather important…

  1. Make use of software such as Lobital

Hundreds of cardboard boxes are winging their way towards your reception desk and your residents are eagerly awaiting their arrival. You spend hours of your day sifting through packages, deciphering address labels and contacting your residents who come traipsing down in the lift in their dressing gowns to collect.

There is a better way.

Using Lobital, you can send your resident an email at the touch of a button to let them know their parcel has arrived and then record a digital signature when they collect on their way home- reducing the chance of parcels going missing and making the whole thing more convenient for everyone.

You don’t have to hold on to packages for days because your resident has forgotten to collect yet again and your resident doesn’t have to drag their shopping bags all the way up to their apartment before realising they have a parcel to collect and making their way all the way back down again. Happy days.

Psst…Lobital also has a community calendar function to remind your residents of upcoming maintenance works or events and even allows them to contact you directly re-access permissions for their guests.

  1. Get yourself organised.

For example, if you know that the majority of your deliveries come at 11 am, make sure you get any jobs that take you away from your desk done and out of the way by 10:30 or save them for the afternoon.

If you know there is a community event planned for the next day, try to get ahead of your daily tasks so you can be more available to your residents during the event without worrying about falling behind.

Block time out every day to make necessary calls, use an online note-taking system and set yourself reminders. Simple changes that make for a calm, ordered day.

Hopefully, the above tips are useful, save you time and ultimately make December a bit less daunting. Fingers crossed you may even find a bit of time to relax too!
